The first couple months of winter have been so pretty. We've still only got about a foot of snow on the ground, although I noticed in the forecast that we might get a little bit more in the next couple of days. Sure, the snowbanks near the well-traveled roads are gunky looking, but that would happen anywhere, and just beyond the snowplows' berms is some of the most crisp, most serene scenery you can find.

And an unexpected bonus of the shortened days has been the prolonged twilights. This is what I see out my kitchen window in the evenings when the sky is clear:
The pictures of the Kenai River were taken in a snow shower, which made everything look like an old movie -- all very muted. It was pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteThe sunrise picture of our lake was beyond the ability of a digital camera to capture the range of colors. It was incredible. We get a lot of these.
Ooooooo, how pretty! Snow always looks better than it feels though. I'm more than content looking at your pretty pictures without being in the cold hehe.

ReplyDeleteIt is warm here, about 38 degrees, and the snow is gradually melting, but there is enough here to keep the ground covered until we get a proper freeze again.
